Do not discuss your case during visitation or during calls made from the Pinellas County Jail. All conversations are recorded.
Further, do not discuss your case with:
- Friends
- Family
- Cell mates
- News reporters
- Probation officers
- Bondsmen
- Police officers.
All these people can be made to testify against you. Also misguided jail staff may suggest that a defendant plead guilty at advisory to secure their release without having to post bail.
Not only is it inappropriate for guards to even offer legal advice but such an action may have catastrophic consequences especially for those who may not yet be a US citizen or may be on probation.
What to do if a loved one who has a serious medical condition or a mental disorder has been arrested:
Do not hesitate to inform the jail medical personnel of the diagnosis, any allergies as well as any medications currently prescribed. This should be delivered directly to the supervisor of the medical unit.
Do not attempt to leave messages or medications with the switchboard operator, lobby personnel, or with inmate records. Instead, ask for the health monitor at the jail at (727)464-6415 ext. 49372 or the medical director on duty.
